Reading the book leaves me even more impressed by Sean Penn’s film adaptation。 It’s a solid read， but the directorial choices made by Penn fix my issues with the book’s structure， and enhances the story’s impact。

Egy olyan kiadást olvastam， melyben három bűnügyi történet van。 Az ígéret， A baleset， és A bíró és a hóhér。 Az első inkább hasonlít egy hátborzongató krimihez， bár ebben is megjelenik Dürenmatt sajátos bűnügyi stílusa。 A másik két regény kifejezetten más mint az általam ismert történetek。 A baleset szenzációs regény a valóság és az alkoholtól， jó ételektől elbótított elme határán。

اعتدنا الروايات البوليسية التي تاخذ فيها العدالة مجراها، و التي تتسم بوجود محقق عبقري يتبع الاسباب و الدلائل مع بعض التفكيرير المنطقي لسيرورة الاحداث و اعادة تصور متخيلة لكيفية وقوع الجريمة، فيصل مباشرة الى الجاني الذي ينال عقابه جراء فعلته الشنيعة。لكن مع دورنمات اختلف الامر فقد كتب هذه الرواية ليظهر لنا جانبا آخر من القصص البوليسية، جانبا اكثر واقعا و اكثر محاكاة لما يحدث على ارض الواقع، حيث يلعب الحظ دورا هاما في توجيه مسار التحقيق، حيث تبقى العديد من القضايا بلا حل، و حيث يفر المجرمون بفعلتهم اعتدنا الروايات البوليسية التي تاخذ فيها العدالة مجراها، و التي تتسم بوجود محقق عبقري يتبع الاسباب و الدلائل مع بعض التفكيرير المنطقي لسيرورة الاحداث و اعادة تصور متخيلة لكيفية وقوع الجريمة، فيصل مباشرة الى الجاني الذي ينال عقابه جراء فعلته الشنيعة。لكن مع دورنمات اختلف الامر فقد كتب هذه الرواية ليظهر لنا جانبا آخر من القصص البوليسية، جانبا اكثر واقعا و اكثر محاكاة لما يحدث على ارض الواقع، حيث يلعب الحظ دورا هاما في توجيه مسار التحقيق، حيث تبقى العديد من القضايا بلا حل، و حيث يفر المجرمون بفعلتهم لان الحظ كان في صفهم فلم يتمكن المحققون من الوصول اليهم。بهذة الرواية كسر مقولة "لا توجد جريمة كاملة" يكفي فقط ان يكون الحظ في صف الجاني （كما في هذه الرواية） فتكون جريمته كاملة ليس من ناحية تنفيذها انما من ناحية عدم قدرة الشرطة على الوصول اليه。رواية بوليسية بافكار غير تقليدية تجعلنا نرى جانبا مظلما من عالم التحقيق و الاجرام، و تجعلنا نوقن ان العدالة لا تأخذ مجراها دائما。 。。。more

STU PEN DO！ Ma com’è possibile che non l’avessi letto prima d’ora？ Questo è sicuramente uno di quei romanzi destinati a ritornare ancora e ancora nella mia to-read。 E devo recuperare altro di questo scrittore， che torna ancora e ancora nei discorsi sulla scrittura。 La Svizzera non produce solo ottimo cioccolato， ma buona letteratura。 Detto questo， La promessa è una scatola cinese: un racconto che contiene un racconto， che riprende una fiaba， e nel finale ci lascia un ultimo racconto， una confess STU PEN DO！ Ma com’è possibile che non l’avessi letto prima d’ora？ Questo è sicuramente uno di quei romanzi destinati a ritornare ancora e ancora nella mia to-read。 E devo recuperare altro di questo scrittore， che torna ancora e ancora nei discorsi sulla scrittura。 La Svizzera non produce solo ottimo cioccolato， ma buona letteratura。 Detto questo， La promessa è una scatola cinese: un racconto che contiene un racconto， che riprende una fiaba， e nel finale ci lascia un ultimo racconto， una confessione in punto di morte， che spazza via tutto quello che ci è stato raccontato prima， le supposizioni， le sconfitte， le attese。 Abbiamo Cappuccetto Rosso， che si addentra nel bosco con un paniere da portare alla nonna。 Incontra il Lupo cattivo e non finisce bene。 La promessa， che il commissario di polizia farà ai genitori della piccola vittima， diventerà ossessione e ragione di vita， a costo della propria anima。 Così inizia la ricerca， la caccia， o meglio， la pesca all’assassino。 La pesca presuppone un’esca e educa alla pazienza， all’attesa。 E l’attesa inizia， per il commissario， lunga， interminabile， febbrile。 Le ripetizioni non fanno che esasperare e dilatare il senso di perseveranza， il tempo che passa lento a cui ci si deve sottomettere con pazienza per essere ricompensati dalla preda。 Il ritornello della canzoncina che la bambina ripete in continuazione， d’altro canto， contribuisce a esasperare una situazione già tesa e delicata di per sé。 Siamo tutti in tensione， insieme al commissario， in attesa。E nel finale la ripetizione ci spinge al limite della sopportazione， sbottiamo insieme al prete: “Racconti， racconti， l’estrema unzione aspetta。” Finché la rivelazione viene sganciata， come una bomba。 Ed è tutto silenzio。È un romanzo sul romanzo giallo。 Dürrenmatt però sovverte le regole della logica e della supposizione。 L’intuito， per quanto necessario， l’indagine， per quanto accurata e meticolosa， non bastano。 Il caso si intrometterà a cambiare il corso delle cose。 L’ordine deve fare i conti con il caos。 Imprescindibile。 。。。more

The Pledge is a fast paced， detective novel that revolves around the murder of a little girl The author， Friedrich Durrenmatt has penned a near perfect Detective novel set in Switzerland where a little school girl， Gritli Moser gets murdered in the woods and an innocent is framed for the murder。The book is based on the detective Matthai who pledges to Mr and Mrs。 Moser that he'd find her killer。I loved the way the entire book has been written， perfectly explaining the murder ， the pledge itself The Pledge is a fast paced， detective novel that revolves around the murder of a little girl The author， Friedrich Durrenmatt has penned a near perfect Detective novel set in Switzerland where a little school girl， Gritli Moser gets murdered in the woods and an innocent is framed for the murder。The book is based on the detective Matthai who pledges to Mr and Mrs。 Moser that he'd find her killer。I loved the way the entire book has been written， perfectly explaining the murder ， the pledge itself and the events that happen next。The author toys with the idea of a good detective novel and the art of writing a detective novel right within the the book！ Very smartly he lays before the reader his thought process having finished with a satisfactory ending（ which every author tries to write ） as well as an unsatisfactory finish。There couldn't have been a better title to this book although the word Pledge is lost in translation and replaced by Promise。 Loved Matthai's character and anything more on him would be a potential spoiler！The climax is quite surprising although a few might see it coming although i felt it a bit rushed and somewhat left me unimpressed maybe that's what the author was talking about earlier。（view spoiler）[I felt as if the last chapter was written by someone else altogether。 The entire book was written in a serious manner with no humour in it and suddenly towards the end the reveal of by Frau Schrott and the iconic Extreme Unction by the priest had me in splits。（hide spoiler）]However this book deserves to be read and recommended to all Mystery lovers！ 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it， click here。 Excelente novela cargada de escepticismo y de humor negro。 Sirvió de base a la también notable película de Ladislao Vajda “El cebo”。 Va más allá de la novela negra al uso incluyendo una reflexión interesante sobre este tipo de literatura。La técnica narrativa tiene un matiz paródico。 Comienza la novela con un narrador en primera persona: un escritor que da una conferencia sobre el arte de escribir novelas policíacas y continúa con un segundo y definitivo narrador: el comisario que cuenta al novel Excelente novela cargada de escepticismo y de humor negro。 Sirvió de base a la también notable película de Ladislao Vajda “El cebo”。 Va más allá de la novela negra al uso incluyendo una reflexión interesante sobre este tipo de literatura。La técnica narrativa tiene un matiz paródico。 Comienza la novela con un narrador en primera persona: un escritor que da una conferencia sobre el arte de escribir novelas policíacas y continúa con un segundo y definitivo narrador: el comisario que cuenta al novelista un caso real que contrasta con los crímenes de ficción。 Tiene por tanto un enfoque irónico que recuerda la parodización y sublimación de las novelas de caballería que observamos en el Quijote， aunque por suerte este libro carece de grandes pretensiones。El patético personaje del detective que echa a perder su vida por la promesa hecha a la madre de la niña asesinada es inolvidable。Se lee con fruición y cuesta abandonar la lectura。 Muy recomendable。 。。。more
